There are a truly impressive number of beauty products in this world. Not only are there dozens - if not hundreds - of different brands, but each general type of product can break down into a dozen iterations. Moisturizer is broad, but then you’ve got under-eye moisturizer, hand lotion, and on and on. No wonder it’s a massive international market.
And, according to recent headlines, these products are not just making us more beautiful. They may also be giving us cancer - well, some of them at least. Yes, according to headlines, many beauty products, particularly those used by Black and Latina women, contain cancer-causing chemicals.
Fortunately for all of us who like to moisturize, the data is not nearly as worrying as the headlines imply. There’s no need to throw out all of your beauty products just yet.
