What you said. I’ve always been a little bit annoyed at people who talk about processing as if it’s an evil in itself. If you pick cucumbers out of your garden and take them into your kitchen and make pickles out of them and then can those in your home canner- they are processed.
It isn’t the processing that’s bad for you. It’s what’s in it.
Thanks for covering the limitations of the statistical process using the vehicle of the panic over UPFs. How are we going to feed a planet overpopulated by many starving people except to use preservation methods that can make the food devoid of disease when shipped long distances? As you note, the trick is to keep these foods to a limit. As much as I do love my ice cream I have to practice some restraint :-) Question: Is pasteurized milk a processed product? I would think so, because pasteurization is a "process." In that case, I will take my processed milk products, thank you, over raw milk any day. And I will use these pasteurized products in my ice cream and turn it into a tasty UPF :-)
